Spirit of DJians

The school choir has been steadily progressing over recent years. Currently, the choir consists of 53 immensely committed and energetic members, all sharing a common passion and love for choral music. Under the tutelage of choir coach Tracy Wong, the choir has been actively participating and performing in various events, including the Pelancaran Pelan Induk Pendidikan @ Putrajaya (2007), SMKDJ’s 25th anniversary celebration (2008), Majlis Anugerah Cemerlang (2007 -  2009), Hari Kokurikulum (2009) as well as the 5th & 6th Young Singers Choral Festival (2007 & 2008). The choir also has undergone the Trinity Guildhall Choral Assessment Silver Level examination, emerging with a high merit qualification. Furthermore, the choir has also clinched the title of second runner-up in the District Level Choir Competition held in SMK (P) Sri Aman in May 2008.

In 2009, the choir successfully clinched Champions at the District Level Choir Competition (April), and moved on to becoming the first runner-up at the Selangor State Level Choir Competition (May). Apart from that, the choir also participate in the 7th Malaysian Choral Eisteddfod South East Asia Choir Competition (June) where they attained a Silver Diploma. The SMKDJ choir has been invited to compete in the 2009 Selangor Koir Lagu-lagu Patriotik Competition (August), as well as the Subang Parade Inter-school choir competition (August). We wish them luck! Apart from competitions, the choir has also sung for charity events, which include the recent Choralthon (July) - a choral marathon- organized by Voices of Home (a charity arm of the Young Choral Academy) to raise funds for Rumah Kasih.

Regular practices for 2009:
1.30pm - 3.45pm every Monday and 1.05pm - 2.30pm every Tuesday. Both are compulsory.
(practices are more frequent in preparation for upcoming events. Members are exempted from choir rehearsals during the exam season.)
